The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN), in collaboration with the National Informatics Centre (NIC), has announced the launch of the new E-Way Bill 2.0 portal (https://ewaybill2.gst.gov.in), effective 1st July 2025. This move comes as a major upgrade in the E-Way Bill ecosystem to ensure business continuity, reduced portal dependency, and real-time inter-operability.

🎯 Objective Behind the Launch

The E-Way Bill 2.0 portal has been developed in response to feedback from taxpayers and transporters, seeking uninterrupted access to essential functionalities during technical issues or maintenance on the main portal.

The objective is to allow cross-portal operations and provide a mirrored experience where users can work seamlessly across E-Way Bill 1.0 and E-Way Bill 2.0.

🆕 New Inter-Operable Services on E-Way Bill 2.0

The E-Way Bill 2.0 portal enables users to perform several additional services even for E-Way Bills created on either of the portals:

✅ New Services Available Cross-Portal:

  1. Generation of E-Way Bill based on Part-A details by the supplier
  2. Consolidated E-Way Bill creation

🔄 Real-Time System Synchronisation

One of the key enhancements is the real-time mirroring of E-Way Bill data across both portals:

  • Any action performed on one portal is reflected within seconds on the other.
  • In case the E-Way Bill 1.0 portal is down, users can:
    • Generate or update E-Way Bills on E-Way Bill 2.0
    • Carry E-Way Bill slips from either portal — both are valid and legal
  • Ensures zero disruption in goods transportation and document compliance.

📡 API Availability for Businesses & Logistics Providers

The enhanced services will also be available through API (Application Programming Interface) for seamless integration with:

  • Logistics operators
  • ERP systems

The APIs are currently live in the sandbox (test) environment for pilot testing and can soon be integrated into live systems.
