Attention: Increase in Document Upload Size for Principal and Additional Place of Business in GST Registration and Amendment

Jul 9th, 2024

Dear Taxpayer,

GSTN is pleased to inform you about the recent changes made to the document upload size in the Principal Place of Business and Additional Place of Business sections for New Registration and Amendment.

Taxpayers were facing issues with the previous size limitations, as they often had to compress documents, which reduced their quality and frequently resulted in notices due to unreadable documents. These changes address the grievances received from the trade community regarding this matter.

What Has Changed?

Taxpayers can now upload the following documents with a maximum size of 500 KB in the Principal Place of Business and Additional Places of Business tabs:

Document TypeDocument NameEarlier Document SizeNew Document SizeType of Document
Proof of Principal Place of Business and Additional Place of Business1. Municipal Khata Copy
2. Electricity Bill
3. Consent Letter
4. Property Tax Receipt
100 KB500 KBJPEG/PDF

These enhancements aim to facilitate a smoother and more efficient registration and amendment process by allowing larger document uploads.

Thank you for your continued cooperation.

Sincerely,
Team GSTN

So this change will reduce notices as registrants can upload high quality documents, as many notices arrive due to not readable documents.
