Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication & Document Verification for GST Registration started in Andhra Pradesh

Here are crucial updates on the GST registration process:

  1. Rule 8 of CGST Rules, 2017 is amended for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication, allowing data analysis and photograph verification.
  2. This functionality, developed by GSTN, launches in Andhra Pradesh on December 4, 2023.
  3. After Form GST REG-01 submission, you’ll receive: (a) OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication Link OR (b) Appointment Booking Link to visit a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and document verification.
  4. For 3(a), proceed as usual. For 3(b), book an appointment using the provided link. After confirmation via email, visit GSK with: (a) Appointment confirmation (hard/soft copy) (b) Jurisdiction details (c) Aadhaar Number (d) Original documents per intimation email.
  5. GSK conducts biometric authentication and document verification based on GST Form REG-01.
  6. Choose a biometric verification appointment during the specified period in the intimation email for ARN generation post verification.
  7. Currently, the appointment feature is available for Andhra Pradesh applicants.
  8. GSK operation hours align with state guidelines.
