As per Gazette Notification dated April 8, 2025
New Delhi: The Ministry of Finance (Department of Revenue) has extended the deadline for filing declarations under the Direct Tax Vivad se Vishwas Scheme, 2024 to April 30, 2025, according to a notification published in The Gazette of India (Extraordinary) on April 8, 2025.
The Vivad se Vishwas Scheme, 2024 is a government initiative designed to reduce the burden of pending income tax disputes and litigation. It offers taxpayers an opportunity to settle disputes by paying only the disputed tax amount, while receiving significant waivers on interest and penalties. The scheme applies to appeals or petitions pending before any appellate authority as on July 22, 2024. However, it excludes cases involving search and seizure, undisclosed foreign income or assets, and prosecution under certain laws.
Taxpayers who filed their declarations on or before December 31, 2024, are required to pay only the disputed tax amount. Those who filed after that date but before January 31, 2025, are required to pay an additional 10% of the disputed amount.

In continuation of the relief offered, the Central Government has now issued Notification No. S.O. 1650(E) under clause (l) of sub-section (1) of section 89 of the Finance (No. 2) Act, 2024 (15 of 2024). This notification sets April 30, 2025, as the final date by which declarations can be submitted to the designated authority, in accordance with the provisions of section 90 of the said Act.
The notification, officially issued under [F. No. 32/2025 / F. No. 370142/9/2025-TPL], was signed by Surbendu Thakur, Under Secretary, Tax Policy and Legislation, and is published under Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) of The Gazette of India.
Taxpayers with pending disputes are encouraged to avail this final opportunity to resolve them under the scheme and ensure compliance without facing the burden of prolonged litigation.
