Important Update: Biometric Verification for GST Registration from 28th July 2024 – A new state notified

As per new change announced by 53rd GST council meeting that bio metric authentication apply in all states soon for New GST registration , Its phase wise implementation started and one by one new states will be added under that, One new state is notified by GST Portal on 28th July 2024 through below advisory

Advisory for Biometric-Based Aadhaar Authentication and Document Verification for GST Registration Applicants of Uttarakhand

This advisory informs taxpayers about recent developments in the GST registration application process. Please take note of the following key points during registration:

1. Amendment to Rule 8 of the CGST Rules, 2017: Applicants can now be identified on the common portal based on data analysis and risk parameters for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication. This includes taking a photograph of the applicant and verifying the original copy of the documents uploaded with the application.
2. Implementation in Uttarakhand: This functionality has been developed by GSTN and rolled out in Uttarakhand on July 28th, 2024.
3. Document Verification and Appointment Booking Process: After submitting the application in Form GST REG-01, the applicant will receive one of the following links in their e-mail:
   • Link for OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication
   • Link for Booking an Appointment: This includes a message to visit a GST Suvidha Kendra (GSK) along with details of the GSK and jurisdiction, for Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication and document verification (the intimation e-mail).
4. OTP-based Aadhaar Authentication: If the applicant receives this link, they can proceed with the application as per the existing process.
5. Booking an Appointment: If the applicant receives the link for booking an appointment, they must:
   • Book the appointment to visit the designated GSK using the link provided in the e-mail.
   • Receive confirmation of the appointment through e-mail (the appointment confirmation e-mail).
   • Visit the designated GSK as per the chosen schedule.
6. Required Documents for GSK Visit:
   • A copy (hard/soft) of the appointment confirmation e-mail.
   • Details of jurisdiction as mentioned in the intimation e-mail.
   • Original Aadhaar Card and PAN Card.
   • Original documents uploaded with the application, as communicated by the intimation e-mail.
7. Biometric Authentication and Document Verification: This will be done at the GSK for all required individuals as per the GST application Form REG-01.
8. Appointment Scheduling: Applicants must choose an appointment for biometric verification within the maximum permissible period for the application as indicated in the intimation e-mail. ARNs will be generated once the Biometric-based Aadhaar Authentication process and document verification are completed.
9. Operation Days and Hours of GSKs: These will be as per the guidelines provided by the administration in your respective state.
