What is e-PAN Card?

The e-PAN card is the digital version of your physical PAN card. It contains all the essential details present on your physical card and serves as a virtual PAN card that can be used for e-verification purposes. This digital format allows for easy storage on your computer or smartphone.

Eligibility Criteria to Apply for e-PAN:

To apply for an e-PAN, you must fulfill the following criteria:

  • You must be an Indian citizen.
  • You must be an individual taxpayer.
  • You must possess an Aadhaar card.
  • Your Aadhaar card details must be up to date.
  • Your mobile number should be linked to your Aadhaar card.

How to Download PAN Card:

    1. Downloading PAN Card via NSDL:

    • Select ‘PAN-New facilities’ section under ‘Quick Links’.
    • Choose the appropriate option based on the date of PAN allotment.
    • Enter the required details such as PAN number, Aadhaar number, date of birth, etc.
    • Generate and enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number.
    • Complete the verification process and download the e-PAN in PDF format.

    2. Downloading PAN Card via UTIITSL:

    • Go to the official UTIITSL portal.
    • Click on the ‘Download e-PAN’ option.
    • Enter your PAN number, date of birth, and GSTIN number if applicable.
    • Submit the details and verify using the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
    • Download the e-PAN card from the link provided.

    3. Downloading PAN Card via Income Tax e-Filing Website:

    • Visit the official income tax e-filing website.
    • Navigate to the ‘Check Status/ Download PAN’ tab and click ‘Continue’.
    • Enter your Aadhaar number and proceed.
    • Verify using the OTP sent to your Aadhaar registered mobile number.
    • Download the e-PAN once it has been allotted.

      • Yes, an e-PAN will be considered valid proof for a PAN card as all the details mentioned on a PAN card are displayed on an e-PAN.
    2. What to do if I do not receive an OTP during the download process?
      • You can try reloading the page to submit your relevant details again to receive another OTP. In case you still fail to get the OTP, you can reach out to UIDAI.
    3. Is it mandatory to complete in-person verification (IPV)?
      • No, the e-KYC process is Aadhaar-based; hence IPV is not needed. The entire process is online. You need not visit any centre.
    4. Can I apply for a PAN if my Aadhaar card is inactive?
      • No, your Aadhaar card has to be active for applying for a PAN.
    5. Do I need to pay any fee to apply for e-PAN?
